The “Army Fire Service” (AFS) is not to be confused with the “Auxiliary Fire Service” (AFS) which is part of the Civil Defence from which the Army got much of its post WW2 equipment.

In the 1950s and early 1960s, Fire engines had red lights and electric brass bells, a combined “American” Squad-car light and Siren were fitted but rarely used.

About 1964 the red lights and electric brass bells were replaced with Blue lights and Martins Horns.
